The municipality Teulada-Moraira is located in the Valencian Community and is a great opportunity to experience the essence and also the prosperity of this region. The commitment to the environment, respecting both customs and history, coexists with the future projects.
The first surprise for visitors is the singular topography of Teulada-Moraira, that invites you to take a walk and discover every corner. During this adventure we will also find 8 kilometers of beaches and coves which are a wonderful scene and offer many possibilies. They are a splendid natural gift of the Mediterranean.
Maintained beaches
The maintenance of the beaches is guaranteed by the blue flag granted by the European Community. The beaches also have ISO 9001 systems quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management certifications. The cleanliness, water quality, comprehensive and convenient services and the activities offered assure a very pleasant stay.
To visit the natural environments offered by the beaches you should start at the Cap d’Or, that protects the cove and the beach of Portet where you can enjoy fine sand and crystal-clear water. The small. Seashell-shaped cove is a magnificent spot for a swim with the kids.
Heading towads Moraira, near the entrance to the marina, lies the hidden cove Cala Portixol, very good for diving and fishing.
At the foot of the castle lies the beach L’Ampolla, an accessible beach which is the most visited, urban and largest. There you find a large playground and it lies beside the natural space of Marjal del Senillar. Its proximity to the urban forest with its playground, biohealthy park and the magnificent La Pérgola promenade, makes the beach an ideal place any time of day.
Coves and cliffs
Further south are the “Les Platgetes”, two small coves with clear water and alternating areas of sandy and rocky areas, featuring a beautiful panoramic promenade with gardens and parking. Here you can show your kids the diversity of the marine habitat concentrated in the natural pools, formed by the old quarry that is carved into the fossil dune, which embraces the coves.
Not far from the beaches the impressive cliffs begin. Situated in these surroundings is the ”Cala de l’Andragó”. The rocks and the deep, transparent water are perfect for diving and fishing. A lovely lookout point dominates the cove, offering the most photographed panoramas of this coast.
Leisue and sport
The pleasant Mediterranean Sea gives us the opportunity to enjoy activities like scuba diving. Teulada-Moraira has five spectacular underwater routes full of color and natural riches to be enjoyed while you snorkel with the family.
The whole family can participate in sailing courses organized by the sailing school “Escuela de Vela C.N. Moraira” in the yacht club “Club Náutico Moraira”, that is considered to be one of the best marinas of the Valencian Community, which also offers a diving center.
To continue our sea adventure, kayak trips with the family along the coast or, if your kids like more intense emotions, renting jet skis can be really exciting!
In the shopping center “Centro Comercial Sol Park” you will find a tennis club with several courts, a miniature golf and a recreational area with a bar, thematic miniature golf, bouncy castles, table football…
You shouldn’t miss enjoying the tour along the coast in the tourist train with the added attraction for the kids of ringing the bell or whistle during the tour.
Nature and hiking
Hiking is another excellent choice to enjoy with the family while surrounded by nature.
The short trails range from low to moderate difficulty. The local trails are signposted and the trails “El Cap D’Or” (SL-CV51), “Barranco de la Cala” (SL-CV50) and “Barranco de Xurra” (SL-CV73) offer wonderful views, in addition to the adventure of discovering old watchtowers or more modern police posts that speak to us of pirates and smugglers, and perhaps you might be lucky and find a hidden treasure.
Of course you can choose other routes. Some of them are a little more demanding and pass through impressive landscapes, such as “Vall de les Sorts” or “Ruta de los Miradores del Litoral”, and others are more like a quiet walk through vineyards and almond groves or tours of historical sites such as the route “Ruta Vicentina”.
Culture and heritage
In Teulada, there are more than leisure and sports activities to occupy your free time. You should set aside some time to admire its cultural heritage.
The square “Plaza de la Creu” is a very good place to start the tour of the historic centre. This walled Gothic part of Teulada was declared of cultural interest and preserves typical manor houses from the period of the late Gothic era in Valencia. There you will find the church “Iglesia Parroquial de Sanata Catalina (16th – 18th century), the hermitage “Ermita de la Divina Pastora (17th century) and the courthouse “Sala de Jurats i Justícies (17th century).
At the highest point of the urban core lies the AUDITORI TEULADA MORAIRA. Inaugurated in 2011, it is a work of the renowned architect Francisco Mangada. The programming includes, in addition to performances of the highest caliber, magnificent shows for the kids.
After visiting the church “Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Desamparos” (19th century) you can stroll through the most typical and picturesque streets of the fishing district (19th century) and look at the retaining and protective wall “Margenot”, which keeps back the rough seas and separates the fishing district from the Moraira Yacht Club.
From here you continue on until you reach the square “Plaza de la Sort” and then the castle of Moraira (18th century).
Traditional cuisine
The Mediterranean Sea and the nearby mountains create a special microclimate that favors the creation of the finest products.
The fish, of the high quality brand Bahía de Moraira, is captured in the traditional way and offers different and tasty combinations.
Rice is the star of the kitchen with delicious dishes like “arròs a banda” or “arròs negre” and not to forget “paella”, since it is the protagonist of family gatherings…
In the traditional cake shops you can find from delicious tomato or oil “coques” to traditional confectionery like “Coca María” made of almonds, “pastissets de moniato” and the “monas” typical at Easter.
Another must is the traditional fish auction in “La Lonja” every morning from Monday to Friday at 10 a.m., and the cooperative winery “Bodega Cooperativa” in Teulada, where you can buy various wines and other typical products.

In addition to hotels, another very important part of the tourist accommodation are the single-family homes, offering a wide range of possibilities and a variety of services, such as pool, garden, terrace… Everything you need to enjoy a well-deserved family break by the sea.
